Korean Travelers to Fukushima after TEPCO Nuclear Power Plant Accident

Scenario

After TEPCO nuclear power plant accident, the Korean government dispatched an ‘aid group’. They traveled northeastern part of Japan. The travelers include journalists, radiation specialists (detailed area, duration and their action during travel are not described). In order to see any effects of radiation, chromosome aberration analysis has been performed for 265 travelers who visited emergency clinic in Seoul, Korea, between 21 March and 15 June 2011. Chromosome aberration frequencies have been compared with those who did not visit Japan as control group, in which persons with the history of medical radiation exposures, X-rays, CT, PET, RT or RI, have been excluded.

The dicentrics frequencies were compared with in vitro dose-response curve for 60Co gamma-rays. It was concluded that chromosomally estimated doses were blow the limit of detection level in both groups.
